It is identified in the research approximately 19% of the young adults may have high Blood Pressure, this blood pressure, analysis is done by National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (Add Health). High blood pressure research in Young adults

This research was initiated by Quynh C. Nguyen, of the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Public Health and further carried out by Kathleen Mullan Harris, Ph.D. who is the principal investigator of this research with colleagues at the University of North Carolina.

High blood pressure research findings

The findings of this research were published online, findings of this research differs from the research done by National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), which stated that High Blood Pressure in young adults are reported to be 4 percent from age range 20 to 39. This research did not identified the reasons of this difference.

“The Add Health analysis raises interesting questions. Investigations into the reasons underlying the reported differences between the Add Health and NHANES findings will no doubt yield additional insight into the measurement of high blood pressure in the young adult population.” said Steven Hirschfeld, Associate Director for Clinical Research for the NIH’s Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, which is patron for this research.

This research shows that high blood pressure as 140 systolic and 90 diastolic. The high blood pressure is a serious condition which lead to heart disease, stroke, heart attack, kidney failure and other serious health issues.

“We explored several possible explanations for the difference between this study and NHANES, including participant characteristics, where they were examined, and the types of devices for measuring their blood pressure. None of these factors could account for the differences in estimates between the two surveys.” Said Dr. Harris of this research.

All participants of this research were interviewed checking technicians took three readings of their Blood Pressure and in research database the mean average of each participant three readings were entered after check the accuracy of each reading. The participants include military personals and prisoners.

Additionally high blood pressure research shows

This research also identified that many participants were unaware that they have high blood pressure, this makes the expectations that more were identified with the high blood pressure as most of the young adults do not know that they have high blood pressure if the scope of this research would be expended.
